Kim Young-Hyun (born February 4, 1976 in Jeollanam-do), often anglicised to Young-Hyun Kim, is a South Korean ssireum wrestler, and later mixed martial artist and kickboxer.
Kim began his combat sports career in ssireum wrestling and held a record of 355 wins and 108 losses, including a victory over Choi Hong-man, and retired from the sport in 2005.[1]
He also holds a mixed martial arts record of 1 loss and 1 no-contest. His only MMA fight found on record is a no contest against Jae Young Kim at Spirit MC 3: I Will Be Back on April 10, 2004.[2]
He made his kickboxing debut at thr K-1 World GP 2007 in Seoul in September 2007, where he defeated Japanese veteran Ryūshi Yanagisawa via decision in a super fight. His next bout then came against Danish karateka Nicholas Pettas at K-1 PREMIUM 2007 Dynamite!! on New Year's Eve 2007, and he lost the fight by technical knockout 41 seconds into the second round.
In June 2008, he took part in the K-1 World GP 2008 in Taipei. In the first round, he defeated Thai fighter Saiseelek Nor-Seepun via decision after three rounds. In the semi-finals, he faced experienced Russian Ruslan Karaev and again lost by TKO.
